The most interesting "feature" of the character is that he was a dual performance:
Gunn purposefully gave King Shark a "dad bod" rather than a muscular physique to make him feel more like a real, slightly out-of-shape creature of the sea rather than a traditional superhero.
King Shark was voiced by Hollywood legend Sylvester Stallone .
On set, the character was physically played by actor Steve Agee (who also plays the human character John Economos). Agee had to wear a giant, oversized shark-head foam piece so the other actors knew where to look when talking to the 7-foot tall creature. Creative Highlights

Director James Gunn initially tried to use a practical puppet for King Shark , but the design didn't allow for the range of motion needed for the action scenes, eventually leading to the CGI version seen in the final film.
