Kaelen gripped the flask tightly. The energy hum was reaching a crescendo, vibrating violently in his hand. He pushed his legs to their absolute limit, his eyes locked on the narrowing gap of the door. Ten feet. Five feet.

He threw himself forward, sliding on his back across the rain-slicked metal. He squeezed through the gap with inches to spare just as the massive blast door slammed shut with a deafening metallic boom.

He stood up, dusted off his coat, and looked out the massive observation window at the sprawling, glowing grid of the city below. He pulled out the flask, watched the blue light pulse slowly behind the glass, and smirked.
