The hum of the server farm was the only heartbeat left in the city. Inside Hub 42, Elias watched the scrolling green lines of the "Aegis" protocol. Outside, the rebellion was hammering at the blast doors. Sarah, the supposed hero of this story, was leading the charge to "shut down" the system Elias had spent years pretending to maintain.
