Planet Of Slums Apr 2026

Planet of Slums by Mike Davis is a 2004 New Left Review essay, expanded into a 2006 book, analyzing the rapid, disconnected growth of global urban poverty. Davis argues that neoliberal policies have created a massive "informal proletariat" in the Global South, where urban growth is driven by forced migration rather than industrial job creation. The original article is available via New Left Review . Mike Davis, Planet of Slums, NLR 26, March–April 2004
