The episode opens with Hong-jo waking up in the middle of the night. For the first time, he feels a literal weight in his chest—a human ache. He watches Sol-ah sleep, realizing that when he is a cat, he sees the world in shades of instinct, but as a man, he sees her in shades of longing. He starts leaving small "gifts" for her around the house—not dead mice, but things he thinks a human woman needs: a lost earring he found under the sofa, a warm tea bag, and a neatly folded scarf. The climax occurs during a sudden downpour. Sol-ah is stuck at a bus stop without an umbrella. Hong-jo, sensing her distress even from blocks away, runs to her. Just as she’s about to give up and run through the rain, Hong-jo appears, holding an umbrella over her.
Back at home, as Sol-ah dries his hair with a towel, she notices a small, familiar mark on his neck—a scratch he received while in cat form earlier that day. Her eyes widen as she looks from the "stray" cat sleeping on the rug to the boy sitting in front of her. The episode ends with her hand trembling as she reaches out to touch the mark.
