The film follows Giorgio ( Renato Pozzetto ), a Milanese bank clerk who moves to Rome for work. To appease his girlfriend Candida ( Gloria Guida ) and her demanding mother, he must find a grand home on a limited budget.

Giorgio manages to rent a luxurious villa for a ridiculously low price, only to discover it is haunted. The mansion is under a 1,000-year curse involving two lovers who were turned into statues of salt. Giorgio is aided by his talking Great Dane, Gaetano, as he attempts to break the spell while surviving various supernatural pranks.
