Unlike stilettos, which concentrate weight on two small points (the toe and a thin heel), wedges distribute your weight across a solid block of material.

Walk naturally. Place your heel down first, followed by the ball of your foot and then your toes. Avoid "clumping"—stepping with your foot flat—which looks awkward and causes fatigue.

Use gel inserts at the ball of the foot to absorb shock, especially if the wedges have a steep incline.

High wedges shift your center of gravity. Taking slightly shorter steps than usual helps you maintain balance and prevents "rolling" your ankle.

Keep your posture upright. A strong core helps stabilize your hips, which in turn keeps your feet from wobbling. 4. Navigating Different Terrains
