Two agents from the Vatican, Xenovia Quarta and Irina Shidou (Issei's childhood friend), arrive at Kuoh Academy. They are on a mission to retrieve stolen Excalibur fragments.

The episode takes a dark turn when Freed Sellzen , a psychotic rogue priest from the Church, appears. Unlike the holy figures Issei expected, Freed is violent and seeks to kill Issei simply for being a Devil.

Issei is severely outmatched and nearly killed by Freed until the Occult Research Club members arrive to save him. However, they are forced to leave Asia behind because the transportation circle only works for members of the Gremory Clan . The episode ends on a tragic note with Issei feeling powerless as Asia is taken away by the Fallen Angels. Season 2 (New), Episode 3: "The Holy Sword is Here!"

This episode is a pivotal moment for Issei Hyoudou as it introduces , a kind-hearted nun who becomes one of the series' most central characters.
