The archive bloomed open, revealing thousands of photos. He clicked the first one. It was him, or someone who looked exactly like him, standing in front of the Eiffel Tower. He had never been to France. In the next photo, he was graduating from a university he’d never attended, holding a degree in architecture instead of the accounting desk job he currently held.
As he scrolled, the photos became more recent. There was a photo of him from this morning , sitting in a cafe he’d never visited, laughing with a woman he didn't recognize but whose smile felt like a forgotten melody.
