StarSat STBs can be recovered using a USB drive in cases of boot stuck state due to power loss or incorrect software updates. This recovery method is the simplest of three available options. To perform this recovery, you need the latest software version for your specific device. Determine if your STB is equipped with an Ali or GX chip. For Ali chip STBs, download the latest software from websites like cdw.com or s-w-t-w.com. Rename the downloaded software file to 'alior update.bin' or 'update.bin'. For GX chip STBs, the software file, also known as a dump or flash file, needs to be renamed to 'GX_rom.bin'. Copy the renamed file onto a USB drive. Connect the USB drive to the powered-off STB. Press and hold the power button on the front panel of the STB or the remote control while simultaneously turning on the STB's power supply. The screen will display 'update' or 'UPG', indicating the recovery process has begun. Release the power button and allow the STB to reboot automatically, showing a status of '0' upon completion.
