Native to South Africa; now widespread in Australia and the North Island of New Zealand.

Controlled via insecticide-treated seeds, endophyte-resistant grasses like AR37 , and strategic soil pH management (aiming for pH 6.0). 🏠 Common Household "Black Beetles"

Both adults and larvae (C-shaped white grubs) are destructive. Adults chew stems at ground level, while larvae prune plant roots.

Generally beneficial predators. They eat aphids, slugs, and worms.
