In addition to local grants, Best Buy awarded nearly $2 million to 11 national partners, including Girls Who Code , Common Sense Media , the GRAMMY Foundation , and Hispanic Heritage Foundation .

Organizations were required to be 501(c)(3) nonprofits or public agencies (like schools or libraries) with a proven track record of serving diverse youth populations.
Underserved youth (ages 13–18) in under-resourced communities.

Eligible nonprofits had to be located within 50 miles of a Best Buy facility (store, distribution center, or corporate office).
Proposals were accepted from April 1 through May 19, 2017 .
