Poirot is tasked with solving the case before the train reaches its next destination. He discovers that Ratchett was actually a notorious criminal named Cassetti, who had kidnapped and murdered a young girl, Daisy Armstrong, years earlier. Through a series of interrogations and physical evidence—including a charred note and a diverse group of passengers with conflicting alibis—Poirot realizes that every passenger on the train had a personal connection to the Armstrong family.

While traveling from Istanbul to London, the famous detective Hercule Poirot finds himself trapped on the Orient Express after a massive snowdrift halts the train. During the night, an unpleasant American millionaire named Samuel Ratchett is found stabbed to death in his locked compartment.
