The Akathist of Saint Parascheva of Iași is one of the most beloved and frequently recited liturgical poems in the Romanian Orthodox tradition. Dedicated to the "Protectress of Moldova," this prayer serves not only as a theological reflection on her life but also as a powerful spiritual tool for millions of pilgrims. Saint Parascheva was an 11th-century ascetic born in Epivates, near Constantinople. Her relics undertook a long journey through Bulgaria and Serbia before being gifted to Prince Vasile Lupu in 1641. They were brought to Iași as a gesture of gratitude from the Ecumenical Patriarchate for the prince's financial support.
