The story follows a wealthy squire, Sai, who is obsessed with sexual conquest while strictly guarding his daughter Yau's virginity. His life is upended by the arrival of a mysterious and beautiful woman (Shu Qi) who marries his son but is actually a "yin demon" intent on sucking the life force from men. Squire Sai's daughter, Yau, eventually disguises herself as a man to learn the "Jade Maiden Heart Sutra" to defeat the demon and save her family.
